Quest dialogue (spoilers)
Offer
Remember the fire-imp I told you of, the one that paid for its cider? It's back, love, sat on my roof every night, crying little sparks. The fire demons out by the cracks have been hunting it; it's a runt, and they don't like runts. Thin them out, would you, and bring me three ember cores so I can make it a hearth of its own. I'm soft. Don't tell Hask.
While in progress
It's still up there. It waved at me this morning. With a very small flaming hand.
On completion
Look at it, curled in the cores like a cat in a basket. ...It won't stay with me, love. It keeps looking at you. Go on. Take the core, it's asleep in it; whistle and it'll come. It'll keep your hands warm and light your road, and if anything bites you it'll bite back. Just never give it cider. Never.
