Dagna Deephammer

Dagna is of the line of Brannoc Deephammer, who was smith to the White Tower in its days of glory, and who forged the Frost Key and the Brimstone Key in the Ash Years. Brannoc also cast the iron of the Tower's sentinels, and set his hammer-mark on the breast of every one. Those sentinels walk the Black Tower still, hollow and obedient, in service to the thing that wears Saervan's face. Every one of them bears her house's mark. To the Durrim this is a shame past speaking: a smith's work turned against the world it was made to guard. Dagna has stood forty years in the shield-wall at the Gate, and she stood the nine days of the Siege of YD 371 beside Thane Durgin. She drinks at the Anvil's Rest each evening, alone, at the table under the old Deephammer anvil, and she reads the gate-book of her own family, which has a blank page at the end.
